Song Wangyue, however, seemed not to have heard, still sipping her water leisurely.
The magistrate in charge saw it out of the corner of his eye and his eyes flashed with ruthlessness, “Come on!”
Two officers came forward.
He pointed inside Song Shen’s house, “Start with this one first!”
“Yes.”
The magistrates walked into the house.
Song Shen was just about to move when Song Wangyue stopped him.
The magistrate walked straight to the bed, saw a bundle on the bed and bent down to get it.
“That’s my second brother’s.”
Song Wangyue said unhurriedly.
The magistrate paused in his movements, then brought the bag over to the bed and opened it, there were two sets of clothes inside, he unfolded and compared them, they were indeed Song Shen’s, threw them on the bed and lifted the sheet to look under the bed.
The two men saw clearly, their eyes showing excitement, ready to rush in, but the magistrate lifted his head and shook it towards the door.
The two men couldn’t believe it, they had clearly thrown the bundle under the bed last night.
One of them couldn’t hold back and blurted out, “How is that possible?”
The words fell, felt the eyes of the crowd fell on him, then realized what he had said, suddenly broke out in a cold sweat, panic to defend, “I, I, I ……”
Bang!
Song Wangyue placed her cup heavily on the table.
The man was startled and subconsciously took a step back.
Song Wangyue got up and walked to the door, asking him aggressively, “What do you mean by what you just said?”
The man’s gaze dodged and he quietly moved behind the man at the head of the group.
“Hold him down!”
Two guards stepped in at the same time and held the man down.
“How dare you!”
The magistrate in charge shouted sternly.
“It’s not me who’s bold, it’s them!”
Song Wan Yue pointed at the two men, “I suspect that they don’t have any so-called silver tickets at all, and the reason for acting this out is to plant evidence against us, brother and sister!”
As soon as she said this, the onlookers drew in a breath of cold air.
The man being held down struggled, “You are talking nonsense, we have no enmity with you, why would we plant evidence against you?”
“Because you know who we are and you know we have the silver in our hands.”
“Don’t listen to her nonsense, we don’t even know him.”
“Is that so?”
Song Wangyue coldly hooked the corners of her mouth, “But I know you all!”
All of the people’s froze.
Even the magistrate at the head narrowed his eyes.
The man’s face turned white, then he thought that Song Wangyue might have swindled him, calmed down and was about to open her mouth to refute, when Song Wangyue raised her voice, “Last year, when I came to the capital, I passed by a pastry shop and they happened to ……”
Her speech was unhurried.
The crowd could hear clearly.
The more these two listened, however, the whiter their faces became. They had never expected that Song Wangyue would remember them after only one trip into the shop.
“I guess that their shopkeeper has been harbouring a grudge because he didn’t buy the recipe, and that’s why he thought of such a poisonous plan when he saw me, in a vain attempt to trap us.”
“Is that what happened?”
The magistrate in charge raised the chain in his hand.
The man was so frightened that he tried to back away, but he was followed by his guards, so he couldn’t move at all. He argued with a white face, “No, no, she, she’s lying.”
A crash!
The officer at the head of the court put the chain around his neck, “Still want to argue, take him to the court.”
One officer stepped forward and took the chain, while another chained another man and pushed them downstairs.
The head magistrate turned around and looked at Song Wan Yue, “You will also come with me to the magistrate’s office.”
“We have to rush home, so we will leave this matter alone.”
The head magistrate obviously did not expect her to say this, and was visibly frozen for a moment.
Song Wangyue saw clearly and knew she had guessed correctly that their aim was not to plant evidence that they had stolen the silver, but to bring them to the magistrate’s office.
“I’m afraid this matter is not up to you.”
The magistrate at the head of the court spoke in a deep voice, his flesh-covered face looking more and more vicious!
He had been informed by the lady early in the morning that he was to bring the man back.
“Oh?”
Song Wangyue raised her eyebrows, unfazed and unafraid, “I don’t know when it’s not okay for the bitter owner to not pursue the matter.”
The people staying at the shop were not ordinary people, and as soon as Song Wangyue said this, they immediately noticed something and looked at the magistrate in charge with a studied gaze.
The head magistrate was irritated by the look on his face, and his face became even more unpleasant, but he couldn’t forcefully take action in full view of the public, “As the head constable, my responsibility is to investigate every matter clearly, if they were really instructed by the shopkeeper, that shop can no longer be opened, lest more people be framed in the future.”
“I don’t care about others, I just need to protect myself, I will come back to the capital in the future, I don’t want to be targeted every time I come, so let’s not pursue this.”
The head magistrate looked at her soberly as he grasped the hand of his waist sword.
Song Wangyue looked back without fear or favour, her gaze not dodging in the slightest.
After a long time, the head magistrate withdrew his gaze and turned to go downstairs.
Several magistrates hurried to follow.
Only when their figures had disappeared from the doorway did the crowd dare to murmur.
Song Wangyue closed the door, shutting out the chatter, “Second brother, pack up, let’s leave right away.”
Song Shen quickly walked over to the bed, put the clothes that had been scattered by the magistrates back into the bag, tied it up and carried it on his back as he and Song Wangyue left the door.
The crowd had not yet dispersed and all froze when they saw them come out.
“Shopkeeper, settle the bill!”
“Oh, good.”
The shopkeeper carried the hem of his coat downstairs, and Song Shen followed him, settling the bill downstairs, waiting for Song Wan Yue to take her bag down and leave the door together, getting into the carriage.
As soon as the carriage left, the people in the inn instantly exploded, and even the innkeeper was speculating about their identities.
It was still early in the morning and there were not many pedestrians on the road. The guards hurried quickly and were about to reach the city gates when a group of soldiers came from a diagonal and blocked the carriage.
The escort hurriedly stopped the carriage.
There was no movement inside the carriage.
A sound of hoof beats came and stopped when they reached the carriage, and the man on the horse asked, “Is that Miss Song in the carriage?”
No one answered.
The man on the horse was not annoyed, “My master wants to see Miss Song, please come with us.”
“What if I don’t want to go?”
Song Wangyue’s voice came out from inside the carriage.
The person on the horse seemed to laugh lightly, “That’s up to you.”
“Is that so?”
Song Wan Yue also laughed a little, “Do you think that if I yelled out on this street that I was Song Wan Yue and my elder brother was Song Si of the Household Department, how would the passers-by react?”
The man on the horse’s face changed for a moment.
He then eased his tone, “Miss Song, my master doesn’t mean anything else, he just wants to invite you over for a chat.”
Song Wangyue flatly refused, “I don’t know your master, so I have nothing to say to him, please move aside, we are in a hurry.”
The man on the horse seemed to have no choice, after looking around, he got down from his horse and approached the small window of the carriage, lowering his voice, “Miss Song, to be honest, my master is the second prince.”
Song Shen covered her mouth.
Song Wan Yue’s pupils shrank.
