Venerable Jing Qing hurriedly said, “Amitabha Buddha, poor monk is not letting the master stay, but persuading the master to stay, the master just used the restaurant as an analogy, although the logic is similar, but the realm and the meaning is not really the same, the restaurant can make people have enough to eat, a good chef if he researches a good recipe, it is even more so, it can make people eat nutritionally balanced, and even have a happy mood, taste buds sublime, and perhaps There is also the efficacy of strengthening the body, healing the sick and saving people, but a good restaurant and good recipes, and does not have the ability to universal life.”
Speaking here, Venerable Jing Qing added, “In fact, every religion, has its own classic works, the reason why it can start from the slash-and-burn farming era, until the modern era of advanced science and technology is still abstruse and far-reaching, is because of its underlying logic, it is a universal value built on the basis of human-centredness, and it elaborates on, is the deeper and also the more original human nature.”
After saying this, Venerable Jing Qing asked Nai Nai Zi, “Do you know why today, when modern technology is so advanced and productivity has fully surpassed that of the ancients, many people still regard the scriptures of thousands of years ago as a lighthouse on the path of life?”
Ito Nayoko shook her head in confusion, “I …… haven’t thought about it carefully ……”
Venerable Jing Qing said, “In fact, the difference between the ancients and the people of today, apart from the fact that the development of technology and the opening of the eyes is much worse than that of the people of today, it also means that the ancients’ lives and thoughts are simpler and purer, and closer to the origin of human beings.”
“They could spend their entire lives thinking about a handful or two philosophical levels, and would not be affected by the present-day materialistic and prosperous world, which makes their depth in philosophical issues far exceed that of the fickle and utilitarian modern people.”
“This is also why, the great minds of both the East and the West were centred around 400 B.C. to 300 B.C. In the East, there were Laozi, Confucius and Mencius, while in the West, there were Plato, Socrates and Aristotle;”
“And the birth of Buddha was one or two hundred years further ahead of these eastern and western philosophers;”
“These wise men among the ancients were originally geniuses of great wisdom, and when such unearthly geniuses, with undistracted minds, spent their whole lives thinking about the underlying logic of life, and wrote their insights into a book, the book, then, became a classic in the true sense of the word.”
“No matter how much society develops, people are still people, and the more society develops, the more dispersed people’s energies become, so the more society develops, the more it instead highlights the most profound philosophies of the ancients, which is why, believers of the three major religions have always held the scriptures from more than two years ago as a beacon on the path of life, and countless people have repeatedly studied the scripture writings from more than two thousand years ago just to get more inspiration.”
