Chapter 1
Pregnancy: six weeks
When I saw the ultrasound report, I was frozen in place by the four words, how could I be pregnant after only one?
What should I do now?
If I tell Fu Shenyan, will he not divorce me because of it? No. Instead, he would think that I was despicable and shameless, using the baby to blackmail him.
I tucked the ultrasound report into my bag and left the hospital.
Outside the hospital building, in the black Maybach, the windows were open a third of the way, and from the outside, I could see the man in the driver’s seat with his cold, clear eyebrows.
The luxurious car and the beautiful man naturally attracted the eyes of many passers-by.
I’ve seen it all over the years and ignored the stares of passersby as I got into the passenger seat.
The man who had closed his eyes to rest noticed the movement and only frowned slightly, did not open his eyes just said in a low voice, “Finished with it?”
“Yes!” I nodded, handed him the contract I had signed with the hospital and said, “President Lu asked me to bring him to say hello to you!” I had originally come to sign the contract today, but I met Fu Shen Yan on the way, and for some reason, he would drop me off on the way.
“You’ll be in charge of the whole case next!” Fu Shen Yan has always been a man of few words, he didn’t take the contract, he just gave a faint explanation and started the car.
I nodded my head and didn’t say much.
I’ve been silent for a long time, except for listening and doing things, I don’t seem to know how to do anything else.
The car was heading for the city centre, it was already late afternoon, where was he going to go if he wasn’t going back to the villa? I was puzzled, but I never took the initiative to ask him about his affairs, so I just kept quiet.
When I thought of the ultrasound sheet, I didn’t know how to speak to him for a while, but I looked sideways and saw his eyes looking ahead, his gaze stern and cold as ever.
“Fu Shen Yan!” I opened my mouth, the palm of my hand tugging at my bag was a little damp, I think I was nervous, so I was sweating.
“Say it!” Two cold words, no extra emotion.
He has always treated me this way, and after a long time, I also let it go, suppressing the apprehension in my heart and taking a breath, I said, “I …… am pregnant.
The most I could say was three words, but at that moment his mobile phone rang and the words were swallowed hard.
“Xinran, what’s wrong?” Some people’s tenderness is destined to be poured into only one person, or deep love, or joy, and in the end it is given to one person.
Fu Shenyan’s tenderness was for Lu Xinran, as one could tell by listening to his conversation with Lu Xinran.
Not knowing what Lu Xinran said on the other end of the phone, Fu Shen Yan suddenly slammed on the brakes and said soothingly into the phone, “Okay, I’ll come over later, don’t run around.”
After hanging up the phone, he regained the cold and stern look on his face and looked at me and said, “Get out of the car!”
A command that left no room for error.
This was not the first time, so I nodded, swallowed all my words back into my stomach, opened the car door and got out.
The marriage between Fu Shenyan and me was an accident and a destiny, but neither had anything to do with love. Fu Shenyan had Lu Xinran in his heart, and my existence was just a decoration or an obstacle.
Two years ago Master Fu suffered a heart attack and forced Fu Shen Yan to marry me from his hospital bed. Although Fu Shen Yan was reluctant, he still married me back because of the old man, and for two years with the old man around, Fu Shen Yan just treated me as if I didn’t exist.
When I returned to the villa, it was already dark and the large house was as empty as a ghost house.
I was still in a daze when I faintly heard the sound of a car turning off in the courtyard.
Fu Shen Yan is back?
Hadn’t he gone to stay with Lu Xinran?
Chapter 2
Before I knew it, I saw the bedroom door open and he was all wet and went straight into the bathroom without looking at me.
I couldn’t go back to sleep with him here, so I got up, put my clothes on, took his pyjamas out of the wardrobe and left them by the bathroom door, then I went out to the balcony.
It was the rainy season and it was drizzling outside. It was dark and I could faintly hear the rain dripping on the brickwork.
When I heard a movement behind me, I turned around and saw that Fu Shen Yan had already left the bathroom, with a towel draped over his lower body and his hair damp, with droplets of water dripping down his toned body.
I think he noticed me looking at him, he looked at me, handsome eyebrows slightly frowned, “Come here!” The tone of his voice was emotionless.
I did as I was told and walked over to him to see him toss me the towel in his hand, his voice low, “Wipe me.”
He had always done this and I had long been used to it, he sat on the edge of the bed and I climbed into bed, half kneeling behind him to wipe his hair.
“Tomorrow is Grandpa’s funeral, so get over to the old house early.” I didn’t mean to drag him into the conversation, but he was so preoccupied with Lu Xinran that if I hadn’t mentioned it, he would have forgotten.
“Yes!” I said, and he said nothing more.
Knowing that he didn’t want to talk to me too much, I didn’t say anything more, so I dried his hair and lay down on the bed again, ready to sleep.
I don’t know why, but this night, after changing into his pajamas, he lay down.
Although it was strange, I didn’t ask too many questions, except that he suddenly wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his embrace, followed by fine kisses falling.
The pyjamas on my body were torn off by him, and I panicked for a moment, fiercely pressing down on his hands that were probing there, and raising my eyes to look at him in uncertainty.
“Fu Shen Yan, I ……”
“No?” He opened his mouth, his black eyes as dark as night, cold and wild.
I lowered my eyes, I was reluctant, but I couldn’t help it.
“Can you be a little lighter?” The baby was only six weeks old, and if I wasn’t careful, it could be dangerous.
He furrowed his brows and didn’t say a word, just rolled over and then started this not so gently that I curled up in pain and could only protect the baby from harm as best I could.
With his ferocity, the rain outside the window got heavier and heavier, and in time there was thunder and lightning, lights and shadows rising and falling, and for a long time he got up and went into the bathroom.
I was in a cold sweat of pain and had wanted to get up and take some painkillers, but I gave up on that too for the sake of the baby.
“The phone on the bedside table rang, it was Fu Shen Yan’s, I looked up at the clock on the wall, it was 11 o’clock.
The only person who would call Fu Shen Yan at this hour was Lu Xinran.
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped, and Fu Shen Yan came out wrapped in a bath towel, wiped his hands away and picked up the phone, not knowing what was said on the other end of the line.
Seeing Fu Shen Yan frowning slightly, he spoke, “Xinran, don’t be ridiculous!”
If it was in the past, I might have pretended to ignore it, but at this time I tugged at Fu Shen Yan and begged him in a soft voice, “Can you not leave tonight?”
Fu Shen Yan frowned, a bit of coldness and displeasure surfaced on his handsome face, “You just got a little sweetness and you’re getting reckless?”
These words were cold and sarcastic.
I froze and felt amused for a moment, tilting my head to look at him, “Tomorrow is grandpa’s funeral, even if you can’t let her go, shouldn’t you still have a sense of proportion?”
“A threat?” He narrowed his dark eyes and fiercely pinched my jaw, his voice low and cold, “Shen Shu, you’ve grown in ability.”
